Welcome

“Beauty and seduction is nature’s tool for survival, because we will protect what we fall in love with.  This relationship is a love story that feeds the earth.”

                                                                                                                           Louis Schwartzberg

The Linda Moskalyk Artist Residency at Cloudbridge is an international residency program hosted by Cloudbridge Nature Reserve. It provides opportunities for artists from a wide range of disciplines and experience to live and work within a biological research station in the remote cloud forest of Costa Rica.

The residencies continues Linda’s vision to enable artists, and writers to think, create, and connect with the magical cloud forest environment.  Located within Cloudbridge Nature Reserve, a program of the Cloud Forest Conservation Alliance, this residency continues Linda’s mission of using art to expand the public passion to preserve and protect the natural world.   She found that opening her studio to the public allowed her to have conversations and create connections with people from around the world who shared a passion to protect the natural world.  Living and working in a scientific community of international researchers and volunteers facilitates meaningful connections and the cross pollination of ideas.

As the Artist in Residence at Cloudbridge you will live and work in your own private studio/cabin, secluded in this inspiring setting allowing for as much or as little public interaction as desired. Resident Artists have the opportunity to interact with field researchers in a number of ways, depending on artist interest.  Artists can create, exhibit, do public presentations or workshops.

The Artist in residence program is intended for all levels of artist age 20 and older and can range from 1-12 months.

Successful applicants are charged a residency/housing fee, $1200 USD per month December-April or $1000 USD May-November.

The residency fees include artist accommodation, work space, private living facilities, bathroom, kitchen, internet, electricity, water. Successful applicants will be responsible for all other costs including food, transport, travel costs, insurance, and art materials.

The studio is situated adjacent to the main trail of the Cloudbridge Nature Reserve in the Talamanca Mountains in southern Costa Rica.  It can be open to the public so that people can come in to view your work, and enjoy conversation about the role of art in environmental conservation or it can be kept private depending on the artist interest.  The location is rural and quiet and is a perfect place for reflection and concentrated creative time.

“I am very lucky to have this beautiful and inspiring space for the purpose of creating art.”

The private studio is embraced in the beauty of the surrounding cloud forest and is comprised of a bedroom with a queen bed, with sheets and towels, ensuite bathroom with hot water and kitchen with basic kitchen items in addition to the outside covered workspace.  While working at Cloudbridge you have full access to the reserve, including our private research trails.
